Dr Sylvia Walton AO was the Principal of St Catherine's School. An outstanding educational leader, Dr Walton has been highly awarded for her contribution to the Australian educational landscape across all levels. In 2011 she was awarded a Doctor of Education (honoris causa) in recognition for her outstanding leadership as Chancellor and council member of La Trobe University, and in addressing issues of access in higher education for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Ian James Savage BSc(Econ) Hons, PGCE,MACE. Ian started teaching in 1972 in the UK at Coopers School in Kent moved to Australia and in 1976 continued his career at Scotch College Melbourne. Moved to St Michael’s Grammar School where among other things he was Chairman of History and Politics. Ian moved back to Scotch College in 1989 – 2013 and during that time was head of History, Head of Year, APS Delegate, Acting Vice Principal and in 1995 was made Vice Principal.

Professor Ruth Bishop, AO, is a world-authority on rotavirus. Professor Bishop was the first person to isolate rotavirus and identify it as the major cause of severe gastrointestinal illness.Professor Bishop is acknowledged world-wide as an expert in the field of rotavirus disease, and as such, is the Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Laboratory for Research on Human Rotaviruses. Her research into rotavirus earned her recognition through the award of Officer of the Order of Australia.Recently (24 March, 1998), Professor Bishop was awarded the Clunies Ross National Science and Technology Award for her discovery of rotavirus and her work in developing a vaccine candidate for this disease.
Professor Bishop currently holds the positions of Professor in the Department of Paediatrics (University of Melbourne) and Senior Principal Research Fellow (National Health and Medical Research Council), Royal Children's Hospital Research Institute.

David Crawford AO, BComm, LLB, FCA, FCPA, FAICD, Director of BHP Limited since May 1994. Director of BHP Billiton Limited and BHP Billiton Plc since June 2001. Mr Crawford was last re-elected in 2008 and, in accordance with the Group's policy described under 'Tenure' in section 5.3.5 of this Annual Report, is retiring and standing for re-election in 2009. David Crawford has extensive experience in risk management and business reorganisation. He has acted as a consultant, scheme manager, receiver and manager and liquidator to very large and complex groups of companies. He was previously Australian National Chairman of KPMG, Chartered Accountants. The Board has nominated Mr Crawford as the financial expert of the Risk and Audit Committee for the purposes of the US Securities and Exchange Commission Rules and is satisfied that he has recent and relevant financial experience for the purposes of the UK Listing Authority's Combined Code. Other directorships and offices: Chairman of Lend Lease Corporation Limited (since May 2003) and Director (since July 2001); Chairman of Foster's Group Limited (since November 2007) and Director of Foster's Group Limited (since August 2001); Former Director of Westpac Banking Corporation (from May 2002 to December 2007); Former Chairman of National Foods Limited (Director from November 2001 to June 2005).

Professor Fred Mendelsohn MD PhD FRACP FAA AO Director of the Florey Institute, University of Melbourne. Professor Mendelsohn is Director of the Howard Florey Institute and R Douglas Wright Professor of Experimental Physiology and Medicine at the University of Melbourne since 1997. He was elected to the Australian Academy of Science in 2003 and received the Order of Australia, Officer in the General Division, in 2004.

Dr Deborah Seifert BSc (Hons) DipEd MEd St DEd FAIM MACE. Headmistress & Educator. In 2002 Dr Deborah Seifert became Head of University College, The University of Melbourne. She was Principal of Fintona Girl's School, Balwyn (Vic) from 1992 -2000. Dr Seifert is a council member of the Invergowrie Foundation.

Michael Robinson is a lawyer and consultant to the law firm Allens Arthur Robinson. Michael is a Director of Aconex Limited and the General Sir John Monash Foundation and has previously held numerous other important public positions. He is a past Chairman of Tabcorp Holdings Limited and a past Chairman of Scotch College Council. He was also a Director of the Asia Society AustralAsia Centre and Orchestra Victoria.
