Professor Fred Mendelsohn MD PhD FRACP FAA AO Director of the Florey Institute, University of Melbourne. Professor Mendelsohn is Director of the Howard Florey Institute and R Douglas Wright Professor of Experimental Physiology and Medicine at the University of Melbourne since 1997. He was elected to the Australian Academy of Science in 2003 and received the Order of Australia, Officer in the General Division, in 2004.

She was Principal of Fintona Girl's School, Balwyn (Vic) from 1992 -2000. Dr Seifert is a council member of the Invergowrie Foundation.

Professor Ruth Bishop AO

Professor Ruth Bishop, AO, is a world-authority on rotavirus. Professor Bishop was the first person to isolate rotavirus and identify it as the major cause of severe gastrointestinal illness.Professor Bishop is acknowledged world-wide as an expert in the field of rotavirus disease, and as such, is the Director of the World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Laboratory for Research on Human Rotaviruses.Her research into rotavirus earned her recognition through the award of Officer of the Order of Australia.Recently (24 March, 1998), Professor Bishop was awarded the Clunies Ross National Science and Technology Award for her discovery of rotavirus and her work in developing a vaccine candidate for this disease.
Professor Bishop currently holds the positions of Professor in the Department of Pediatrics (University of Melbourne) and Senior Principal Research Fellow (National Health and Medical Research Council), Royal Children's Hospital Research Institute. |
